Greenstick fracture Greenstick fracture refers to complete or partial break in the bone. It can be caused due to an injury, trauma or stress. There are different types of fractures. 

  1. Open fracture
  2. Closed fracture
  3. Transverse fracture
  4. Greenstick fracture
  5. Spiral fracture
  6. Oblique fracture
  7. Compression
  8. Comminuted fracture
  9. Segmental fracture 
  10. Displaced fracture 
  11. Stress fracture 
  12. Avulsion fracture 
  13. Buckle fracture 

Greenstick fracture is mostly seen in children below the age of 10 years. It is not a complete fracture but a crack in the bone. Bones in children are not fully developed which results in bend at the site of injury. It can occur due to calcium , Vitamin D deficiency or any injury.
